Practicing Awareness of Microaggressions

I have been observing more closely if there are microagressions that happen in the school or other places where I work. I didn’t observed many microagressions, although I think they are more common among adults than between an adult and children. This week one teacher make the following comment to another teacher “why do you open the school door so early, you make us look unorganized.” She was implying that the teacher was unorganized and the tone of the comment was pretty aggressive.
I felt insulted and I think the comment was out of line. I knew the teacher who received the aggression felt very uncomfortable and attacked. I wish I could have an answer for this teacher who is constantly very aggressive with other teacers.
My observation this week has made more aware of people’s feelings and the way to treat people and children. I understood more people reactions and I tried to find solutions to their necessities without making inappropriate comments.

My family culture

My Family Culture

If I was evacuated to another country where the culture was totally different from mine, I would take: a) a frame of my family done with silver which is very common in Mexico, b) a jewelry box made with talavera which is a special type of pattern, and c) a Diego Rivera’s painting because he is a very well-known Mexican painter
.

I would show others the objects and tell them that: a) the frame has a significant value for me because it has a picture of my family and it also represents a very common craft in my country, b) the jewelry box has a special value for me because I used to use them and it is also a typical craft of a state in my country, and c) a Diego Rivera’s painting because I always like his paintings and they represent specific traditions of my country.
I would feel disappointed and feel that something was take out from me and from my life. I would have to pick the one that has my family and Mexican culture on it, although the others have a lot related to my culture.

I think that as far as insights I would say that my family culture has more than my culture in general, and I think that I would have to get use the other country’s culture and then I would acquire other objects related to culture where I lived.
